Eric Woolfson

Eric Woolfson was a songwriter, lyricist, producer, and visionary creative force best known as the co-founder of The Alan Parsons Project alongside Alan Parsons. Across a run of acclaimed albums in the 1970s and 1980s, Woolfson helped shape a sophisticated fusion of progressive rock, orchestral pop, and conceptual storytelling, contributing to timeless works that explored themes of psychology, literature, science fiction, and human ambition.

Beyond his work in recorded music, Woolfson devoted much of his later career to musical theater and dramatic composition. He created and developed ambitious stage productions including Freudiana—inspired by the theories of Sigmund Freud—Gaudí, centered on the legendary Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, and POE, a musical inspired by the life and works of Edgar Allan Poe. His theatrical work reflected the same cinematic scope and intellectual curiosity that defined his songwriting, blending rich melodies with literary and historical themes.

A master conceptualist with a deep love of narrative-driven music, Eric Woolfson left behind a body of work that continues to resonate across generations of listeners, musicians, and theater audiences alike.
